Over ten volunteers from across Experian Group and Experian Ireland left the office on Wednesday 15th June to take on an ambitious gardening challenge for a local national school. The team spent the day weeding, digging, landscaping and planting flower beds for Swords Educate National School, based in Dublin.
Since opening in September 2001, the Swords Educate School had been located in prefab buildings and porta-cabins over four different sites. The School Board had been actively campaigning for a permanent school building on a single site to be built for over 10 years. Fortunately their hard work finally paid off and commencement of the permanent school building began in 2010. To coincide with the opening of the new school premises on 15th June 2011, Experian volunteers spent the day getting their hands (and clothes) dirty creating beautiful flower-beds throughout the school gardens. The most impressive of which (pictured below) was greeted with rapturous applause from an enthusiastic group of pupils.
Speaking about the project afterwards, Audrey Munroe, Business Development Manager for Experian Ireland, said: “We had a great day. The welcome we received from both the children and staff at the school was fantastic and very touching. It made the day a great success for the Experian team and the school.”
Given that the school is run by a Board made up of staff and parents; the work of volunteers is extremely important. The School Principal, Geard Kelly, pictured below with 5th Class students, thanked the team personally for their help and support.
